Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has announced in the conference call that Apple next generation operating system for Mac OS X would hit Mac App Store on Wednesday. As expected, this would come in the form of an OTA upgrade for existing Mac OS X Lion users. However, rest of the folks need to upgrade to the latest version of Mac OS X Lion to upgrade to Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
Previously, Mountain Lion was seeded only to registered developers in the form of GM version. Mac OS X Mountain Lion is a hybrid of iOS and Mac OS X features which includes 200 new features including Notification Center, deep Twitter and Facebook integration, Notes, Reminders, Gatekeeper, iMessages, etc. We are currently not sure about the exact timing when it would be made available on Mac App Store.
